Write to the Heliopolis Editorial Desk

All inquiries reach the Cleopatra Street inbox — institutional subscriptions, plan questions, corrections to published entries, press queries and individual reader feedback. We answer general email within two business days, Reader subscribers within one business day, and Institutional subscribers on the same business day. Press inquiries get a one-business-day window.

The five most common reasons readers and institutions write to us are: asking the editorial desk to verify or expand an index entry; requesting a bulk PDF export of a region; sending corrections to a published entry; proposing an institutional subscription with multi-recipient invoicing; and requesting custom written briefings on heritage policy or institutional travel planning. All five are welcome and the form below sorts each to the right editor without an internal handoff.

Write to the Desk

Use the form below or write directly to [email protected]. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. We never sell, rent or share email addresses, and this site does not run advertising trackers or social-media pixels, so submitting the form does not subscribe you to anything beyond the immediate reply from the editorial desk.

If you are requesting a sample of the educator resource pack, please mention which sites or regions interest you most. We send the PDF the same day if you write during office hours, and within one business day if you write overnight or at the weekend. The sample is a real resource-pack chapter from the paid archive — not a watered-down marketing version.

What happens after you submit

The form posts to the same inbox as direct email. There is no separate ticketing system, no automated robot reply and no spam-graded queue. An editor on duty reads incoming messages twice a day during the working week, sorts them by topic, and either answers immediately or passes them to the specialist editor for the relevant region. Institutional inquiries are handled directly by Farida, our institutional liaison.

Reader subscribers and Institutional subscribers are tagged in the inbox so their messages move to a faster queue. The volume of Institutional onboarding is capped intentionally — we accept a limited number of new institutional clients per quarter so we can keep the same-business-day commitment honestly. If a quarter is full, we tell you up front and propose a starting date in the following quarter.

For corrections to a published index entry, write to the same address with "correction" in the subject line. Nourhan picks these up directly and the correction note appears at the top of the affected entry, usually within 24 hours of receipt. Substantial corrections that change an editor's verdict carry attribution unless you prefer to remain anonymous.

If your inquiry is time-sensitive — for example you are organising a school trip arriving in Cairo within the next 48 hours and need urgent advice on closures or restorations — mark the subject "urgent" and we move the message to the front of the queue. Genuine urgent messages remain rare; we are happy to treat them seriously when they arrive.

Press inquiries — journalists or publications wanting to quote Museum Pro editors or cite our database — should mark the subject "press". We are happy to be quoted on the record and do not require sign-off rights. We do ask for correct context and correct spelling of the editor's name as it appears on this site. We do not provide images for commercial use; photographs in our index entries are taken by editors during fieldwork and rights are managed individually. Academic citation requests with proper attribution are routinely granted, and the editorial desk will provide direct quotes when asked.
